Sheves Chaveirim - Preorder NOW & SAVE!!!

It is an album that continues where Sheves Achim left off. (Look out for Sheves Achim volume 2 in the future!) The album features six child vocalists - Moshe Bell, Yair Frohlich, Moshe Dov Goldwag, Shlomo Lipman, Zev and Baruch Sheff. It contains twelve songs, two in English. It is the culmination of a production that stretched for over a year. I composed 11 out of the 12 songs, with the twelfth song being a classic Shlomo Carlebach song. It is my hope that you will find inspiration in the music, and that it will bring you to heightened levels of closeness to Hashem. Biezras Hashem, the album should be in stores before Chanukah.

Yaakov Chesed - The Passage (Now Available)

I've got to say, they are pretty impressive. I'm not usually a fan of alternative Jewish music, but these guys have amazing vocals and harmonies. Like secular music, the songs are shorter, which is nice because I often think Jewish songs go on forever. Give it a listen, I am.

BUY IT HERE FOR ONLY $10.00

Here's an excerpt from their website:
Yaakov Chesed is back with their new album "The Passage." Fans of the bands previous album, "Rise Above," will most certainly enjoy many of the tracks on the new CD, especially songs "All I Ask" and "Tzamah," which display a similar rock spirituality to the bands huge hit, "Shema Yisroel." Not wishing to diverge from their sound too much, the band certainly keeps to their musical style but also adds new depths on "The Passage." All band members were involved with the vocals, and this album features some choir arrangements - a first from Yaakov Chesed. There are also more strings than on "Rise Above," no horns, and some tracks were given more of a pop twist- the catchy track "Now I Know" sounds like something Avril Lavigne and Netasha Bedingfield might make if they were frum Jews. There are also some soft and soothing ballads such as "Mi Bon Siach" and the sweeping "Eishes Chayil." "The Passage" is a huge leap forward for Yaakov Chesed and the CD will become a must-have for anyone who enjoys Jewish rock.

I know it is on everyone else's blogs, but he deserves to be. What he did, flying to Mumbai to sing in memorial of those who were lost was a great chessed.

Here are some photos and video of Benny singing at a memorial at the Knesset Eliyahu Synagogue in Mumbai. Benny will be singing tomorrow morning at 9 AM at the Nariman House where the Chabad center was at the time of the terrible attacks one year ago. If you have to pick ONE concert this Chanukah...

Most of us yidden don't have the money to go to a bunch of concerts so we have to choose wisely. Baruch Hashem, there's an obvious choice on which concert to attend. You want superstars that are more than just good performers, that are actually good singers? What I am saying is, music is about the sound. If you, chas v'shalom couldn't see and could only hear, you go to the concert with the best voices and that is most pleasant on the ears. For that reason, I choose the Shwekey concert. Shwekey, Baruch Levine and Abie? What could go wrong with that? Yes, I know the MBD concert looks promising, however it's on a motzei shabbos. Many of us go away to relatives, in-laws, or whatever for shabbos Chanukah. We may be in hicktown (because everyone's spouse is from a hicktown!) while the show is in NY. There's no way we're rushing back home for a concert at 8:30PM. Too much driving in Brooklyn traffic and then waiting in line and then driving some more and then having MBD's Kulam Ahuvim stuck in your head while you're trying to fall asleep in bed. Not gonna happen! I'd rather come home on Sunday from my relatives, this way I can spend quality family bonding time with them motzei shabbos, and be back for an amazing Shwekey concert! Now if only I could get the Shwekey people to pay me for advertising for them... Just kidding! Seriously, think about it, this concert is going to rock! Nu Nu Nu Nu!

Lyrics:
Early days of younger years,
Full of childrens' joys and fears,
Whether school or home, always felt alone,
In a way, what's a child to do?

Days and months went rushing by,
Bar Mitzvah in a suit and tie,
And my loss still there, much too deep to share,
In a way, what's a child to do?

But I know, you were there the whole time,
Looking down, from a window in heaven,
And your touch, like the gentlest breeze,
Saying, I will remember you son

Even though you could not shake my hand,
You looked down from a window in heaven,
And your touch, like the whisper of wings,
Saying, I will be there for you son, in a way

Milestones of life flew by,
Couldn't help but wonder why,
You had to go away, I never heard you say, "oh my son",
What's a child to do?

At the Chupa we stood as one,
Being watched by everyone,
And the tears that flow, both joy and sorrow,
For the One, who's not here with me now

But I know, you were there the whole time,
Through each step you were guiding me forward,
And your touch, like a breath of fresh air,
Saying, I'll always love you my son

Even though you could not walk me down,
I could tell you were standing beside me,
And your touch, like the wisdom of old,
Saying, I am so proud of you son, in a way

Now I hold him tenderly,
My baby son, for all to see,
I am overcome, by my actions done, today
What's a child to do?

My son will bear your name with pride,
Holding Zeide's torch inside,
And the part of me, which was so empty,
Is now full, as I reach out to you

And I know you were there the whole time,
Looking down, from your place in Shomayim,
And your touch, like a magical spell,
Is embracing me tightly right now

Even though he was not on your knees,
You were here, on a visit from heaven,
And your touch, like the sweetest of wine; saying
There'll always be, a part of me, in you my son

NEW Header!

Designed it myself :) What do you guys think? I did a road in the background. Makes more sense with the name Derech. And a little 3d guitar. If anyone needs video editing or graphics made, let me know. I'm looking for more work :)

HUGE NEWS! Sheves Chaveirim Sampler

I was skimming through facebook and found that Ari Goldwag posted something on his blog Geulah Perspectives about Sheves Chaveirim. Lo and behold! It's a sampler for the new album!
Looks like one of the songs he has the kids singing is "Finally Here" a song he previously recorded with his vocals. The sampler sounds great and I'll preview the album art as soon as it's released, b'h!

Here's an excerpt from his blog.
So, you may have noticed that I have been somewhat absent over the last few weeks. Baruch Hashem, I have been working hard to complete the new music album that I have produced, entitled Sheves Chaverim. It is an album that continues where Sheves Achim left off.
