Shira Chadasha Boys Choir - Arevim Zeh LaZeh Review

Shira Chadasha Boys Choir based in Israel, however, they are Americans. Nachman Seltzer is the Composer/Choir Leader. You may recognize his name from all the novels he writes or the weekly short stories in Hamodia Magazine. This choir features some known child stars. Such as, Moshe Bell from Sheves Achim and Simcha Levenstein-Mini Helfgot.

Breakdown
  • Shira Chadasha - This song is an amazing song, Hands down one of the best choir songs I have ever heard. 10 of 10
  • Kol Yisrael - Even better than the last song. I love the harmonies in the 2nd part of the song. Moshe Bell's "got to love every jew" is sooooo good. 10 of 10
  • Yerushalayim - I hear a resemblence in the low part, to Korov Hashem from YBC 3. It's still an amazing song. 9 of 10
  • Al Tistakel - Something about this song is addictive. 8 of 10
  • Silent Scream - Would be amazing if Seltzer didn't ruin it with his repetitive talking. Moshe Bell rocks this song though, so points for that. 5 of 10
  • Avraham Yagel - It's very rocky, but, kinda lame, and not a favorite. 6 of 10
  • V'hoer - More rocky then the Avraham Yagel, but, it's actually a good song! 9 of 10
  • Yismechu - Just terrible... 2 of 10
  • Meheira - Back to back terrible songs. WHY!? 1 of 10
  • Ayei - Ahh, a breath of fresh air. Notice the switch between nusach ashkenaz/s'fard.
  • Rashi Omer - Back to the annoying... 3 of 10
  • A Touch Of D'veykus - This is the best rendition I have heard of these famous D'veykus songs. 10 of 10
  • Yizkerem - A very touching and beautiful slow song. It was made in memory of the lives lost in the terrorist attack on Yeshiva Mercaz Harav in Israel. Just Gorgeous. 10 of 10
Final Word - This CD is worth buying. Even though it has, in my opinion, three terrible songs, it is still a quality CD. Happy Buying!

Dovid Stein - Muvtach Lo

Dovid Stein is and Eli Gerstner Production. What to expect is electric guitar on fast songs, and gorgeous but also heart pumping slow songs. A lot of Gerstner's music is more from the Guf than the Neshama. Yet, he still has many songs from the Neshama.
Dovid Stein has an incredible voice, very powerful. Think MBD, Pruz, and Gerstner when you hear him. He can get Gerstner style froggy at time, but he has the "umph" that MBD and Pruz put in their songs. You can buy the CD here

Breakdown
  • Muvtach Lo - This song is very energetic, the low part is typical Gerstner at his best, the mid flows very well and the high part is the clincher. Very powerful and very good to drive to. 10 of 10
  • Ki Bochar - The chorus on this song sound similar to the low part of Ki Ya'akov on SameachAtTheWheel2. It's by far my favorite fast song on the CD. It's one of the two Non- "typical Gerstner style" fast songs. 10 of 10
  • Ki Ato Hu - This has the same beat for an intro as L'maan Achai from the Chevra 3. It features Yossi Green and the song is done very well. Not the best slow song on the CD but still solid 9 of 10
  • Melech - Typical Gerstner song on the high part, which I'm not fond of at all. The low part is very very "chiller style," which happens to rock. 7 of 10
  • Vahaviosim - Good slow song, Dovid shows his vocal range in this song. 8 of 10
  • Neerah - A freilach for a chassuna, done very well. I wouldn't mind dancing to this in a big circle. =) 8 of 10
  • Hashem Yimloch - Lil' Gerstner is a guest soloist here. The keys are ridiculous and sometimes not real. It is such a HUGE Gerstner song. I don't think there is any Neshama in this song. It feels like something that would be played at a High School prom. Sounds great, but leaves you feeling icky. 5 of 10
  • Letav Avid - The "chazzanos" in the beggining are very cool. The song reminds me of a mix between, Hu Yiftach from Tek-Noy and Yehi Chavod from V'eshey Yisrael. It's decent 7 of 10
  • Sheemah - Very Hartzidik, I love this song. Great for a kumzits if you lower the key. 10 of 10
  • R'Yochanan - Very Lebedig song, Reminds of Dedi for some reason but it's still very pleasant on the ears. 9 of 10
  • Achas - Gorgeous Chassuna slow song. He shows you his incredible range once again in this song. 10 of 10
  • Lazer's Niggun - I don't get tired of this song for some reason. Even though, I heard it before on YBCLive II, it's still good. 10 of 10
BUY THIS CD!!!

Meydad Tesa (Al Naharot Bavel)

Meydad Tesa is a child star, from Israel, who with the help of Gad Elbaz put out a CD. He has an outstanding voice and one of a kind. Buy the CD here.

Breakdown
  • 1. Al Naharot Bavel - An impressive song, where he demonstrates his range and vocal talents. He pulled a Shwekey here, with a slow song to start off the album. See the video here - Al Naharot Bavel
  • 2. Hazman Katzer - One Word; Amazing.
  • 3. Choneini - Another great slow song, see the video here - Choneini
  • 4. Tofes Ati - Clearly a Sefardi dance song and a hora. This song can be addictive, especially the way his voice pulls in you into it.
  • 5. Mother - Memorize these lyrics and sing this heart-warming song to your mother before you ask for anything. I believe experts say your chances go up %20.
  • 6. Ohr Gadol - Techno - Not the best song in the world, but great to listen to while exercising.
  • 7. Veohafta - I wasn't a big fan of this song for a while. But then it hit me like a ton of bricks. It's just too good to pass up.
  • 8. Shema Koleinu - The weakest of the slow songs on the album. But that doesn't say much, considering there are only four of them. Still, not a song I would skip.
  • 9. Esa Einai - It's another pumping techno song. Sounds kind of like this Shir Hamalos.
  • 10. Shema Yisrael - This song annoys me so much. If you have an appreciation for the israeli take on chazzanos, by all means listen. I don't appreciate the fact he uses HaShem's name either.

Overall this CD is worth buying. So fork out the cash, don't go taking songs from others. The destruction of the Jewish Music Industry would be no good.
